9 Ways to Recharge your Emotional Battery

My Journey of self-worth and love was a long road with many bumps, turns and diversions. It took dedication, effort, time and everything below to get me where I am today. On my journey I realised we give other people immense power over how we view ourselves and what we think we are worth. This can be constantly draining, emotionally and physically. The solution is easy in theory, all you have to do is take your power back. Reclaim your sexiness, your drive, your worth. Once you do, an immediate shift in what your attracting, who your attracting and opportunities start falling into your lap.

  1. USE AFFIRMATIONS

It's easy to fill our heads with negative thoughts, 80% of our thoughts are negative! Meaning the majority of our day is consisting of negative thoughts about ourselves.

An easy way to start is to write down a positive affirmation that makes you feel good. Even if you don't believe it, say it. Our brain can't tell the difference between truth or lie, if we tell ourselves something over and over again, eventually we believe it!

Some of my favourite affirmations are:

    • I am becoming the best version of myself
    • I will accept what I cannot control
    • My ability to conquer my challenges is limitless: my potential to succeed is infinite
    • I am capable of everything I set my mind to

By focusing on positive affirmations, our minds can feel instantly lighter and visualise the path we are destined for.

2. NOURISH YOUR BODY - WITHOUT RESTRICTION

My personal relationship with food made me develop unhealthy habits and rituals that took years to unlearn. Depending on what social events I would go to, it would dictate my food because of the fear of looking bloated or tight in my clothes. The shift for me was when I started House of Roxy, I began learning about techniques and tools to help me practice living healthy in a safe way. It showed me that the way I saw food (which at the time I thought was normal; all girls thought like this) was in fact not the way at all. The more work I did for House of Roxy, the more energy I required. I NEEDED fuel! Our bodies need the energy to thrive and create.

Identify food that makes you feel like your best. Don't restrict food groups because you were "bad" the day before. Nourish your body in a non-judgmental way and just live! Health is so much more than having 5 green juices or punishing yourself for eating a piece of chocolate.

An easy recipe that hits my sweet tooth but also nourishes me with nutrients is my Very Berry Superfood Glow Smoothie. I love using our Glow Seeds to make the most delicious smoothie.

3. FIND YOUR TRIBE

Find your tribe! Surround yourself with people who no matter what, will stick by you through thick and thin: cherish these friendships. Make sure your friendships and relationships are healthy and don’t leave you feeling drained after spending time with them. When you surround yourself with people who reflect the values you want to attract, you will feel supported and nurtured rather than torn down.

4. GET MOVING, BUT DON'T PUNISH

The impact exercise and daily movement have on my mind is the number 1 motivating factor. Moving my body is a crucial part of keeping my mental health in check. For a long time, I thought of exercise as a way to compensate if I ate something "bad" or to make me skinnier. I used to push myself to the limit and ended up being constantly run down. Now, my driving force is to make me strong! Movement should be energising not punishing. Find what works for you. There is never a right or wrong way to move. My personal favourite is yoga because of the way it allows me to intuitively connect. Focusing on setting an intention in the practice with the breath, physically; calms our nervous system. Mentally, it guides me to set the intentions of the practice. A simple system I follow is: what I want from the day, what I'm grateful for and my manifestations.

Some of my favourite places to move in London are:

    • TriYoga
    • Heartcore
    • BXR
    • Kobox
    • FLEX Chelsea
    • Pyscle

5. FIND WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY

The first rule of levelling up your well-being is to be happy! What brings you joy? Find fun activities, rituals or habits that change your life for the better. Simple things that instantly brighten my mood are:

  • Walking in nature
  • Spending time with friends
  • Practising gratitude
  • Eating delicious food
  • Lighting palo santo and setting an intention
  • Energy cleansing

6. BE MINDFUL AND AWARE OF YOUR FEELINGS

Be mindful of how you are feeling. Consciously note the thoughts that are entering and leaving your brain. Observing these can be a way of learning to be more present. Mindfulness can simply be noticing your thoughts and what emotions you are experiencing in the now. It is about learning to sit with these emotions and enjoying them without challenging them or judging them. Always know that not all bad feelings are forever, they will come and go. You just have to learn to remember that they will pass.

My go-to trick is to write these feelings down and burn them. The physicality of something vanishing into thin air immediately lifts a weight off my shoulders. I use my moon paper for a no-mess situation.

7. PRIORITISE YOURSELF

Learning to be selfish can often seem counterintuitive and difficult. But, when we take time to prioritise ourselves and what tune in to what we truly need and want, it can be a positive boost.

Being selfish isn’t a negative: it is important to carve out time for yourself and let yourself do whatever it is that you need to do! This could be nourishing your body with whole and nutrient dense food & drinks. My favourites that are super simple are making a Magic Matcha Latte

or Shroom Mood Latte, it has amazing ingredients to help lower stress levels and relax the mind!

or treating yourself to something special. As a shopaholic, a new piece of jewellery always does the trick! All our amulets use ancient symbols and materials to help heal, protect and bring power to the wearer.

It could even be about booking yourself a spa day or simply enjoying a hot bath.

Saying yes to everything isn't always what's best for you, sometimes saying no to plans is essential for recharging your battery. But express this without guilt, fear of letting people down or FOMO. You matter! Give yourself the chance to be selfish in the best way possible.

8. CREATE YOUR SAFE SPACE

Create a space which makes you feel supported and calm. This could mean lighting your favourite candle or incense. Make your space a SAFE space with possessions and vibes that make you happy! Similarly, your environment can be about the people who you surround yourself with.

9. MEDITATION AND BREATHWORK

I would be lying if I said I meditated every day, I certainly don't. Truth be told, I find it really hard to sit down and simply just sit. I discovered that using my breath permitted me to be still and focus my energy on my mindfulness. Straightforward deep breaths in and deep breaths out.

This could be as short as five minutes or as long as an hour. There is also no right or wrong way to meditate. When we tune into our breath our parasympathetic nervous system becomes relaxed and our bodies feel safe.

A great way to set the mood and dive into a meditation would be to:

  • Spray our Cleanse & Protect Mist, ingrained with full moon energy, magical herbs and crystal infusion to help clear any negative or stagnant energy. Followed by lighting an intention candle (choose the colour which is most appropriate for your intention. If you're a newbie, I recommend guided meditations or music to help you wind down.
  • Make use of apps like Calm or Breathe or merely listen to the inhalation and exhalation of your breath.
